Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19
A brief update since our last Adventures in Armes…
The Armes family has seen many new adventures this past year. In Fall 2019 we moved cross-country (literally, a diagonal line from Georgia to Seattle, WA). On our way, we camped across the U.S., visited friends and family, and explored national parks and museums. Glacier National Park is becoming a favorite for us both, which is easier to drive to from Seattle than from Georgia! We gave the West Coast a long hug. It’s our first time living in Pacific Time in seven years, and it is great to be back! Stephanie began an assistant professor position at Seattle Pacific University, and Brian added many talents and skills (photography, creating graphic novels, and consulting) to his diverse portfolio of film work. The year 2020 was filled with unexpected surprises and challenges for all and, also, unexpected joys for us. We experienced fulfilling work. We purchased our first home in June 2020. We moved in and, three weeks later, we discovered we were expecting our first child! This means that our tiny baby was with us when we got the keys to the house in mid-June. For this reason, we lovingly refer to the newest Armes member-to-be as Junebug.
Armes Family is Currently in Preproduction
Instead of planning for a set amount of production days, we will be playing the perpetual roles of parents. We are due with Junebug in early March 2021. So far, baby has remained healthy and is meeting all developmental milestones, something for which we are continuously thankful. We praise God for caring, competent medical providers around the world who have been assisting us during this season.
We yearn for you all
In March 2021, we will welcome baby with open arms, and in April 2021, the Armes family will turn 10 years old! Whether you are in the American Southwest, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest, or elsewhere in the world, we long for a day when we will be together again in person. For you, dear friends, are part of our community of saints and we feel the love you have for our family and this baby keenly, even if we are separated physically. We created this website for you, to see pictures of our adventures with Junebug and what it is like to be expecting during a pandemic.
Should you feel so led, we’ve also created a baby registry and set up a meal train for after Junebug’s arrival. A couple things to know about our family and baby Armes:
- We do not know the sex of the baby- we’re going to let God surprise us on this one. We don’t have any “set” colors or decorating for Junebug, so feel free to be creative with whatever speaks to you.
- The most precious gift to us is to remain connected to you and receive your messages and prayers during this time. Anything else you choose to give us is merely an accessory to the love we feel for you and that you have for us.
- In this light, for anything you may see on our registry: please consider if you actually need to buy the item new, or if there are items you may have from your previous children you would prefer to give. We welcome and encourage hand-me-overs and used items as much as newer items.
- We continue to thank God that you are in our lives and are present with us in this season!
With much love from hearts expanding,
Stephanie and Brian
